Two people were reported injured at the livingston carnival on Sunday. Two people were injured when a carnival ride malfunctioned on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at 3300 U.S. Highway 190 in Livingston, Texas. According to local sources, the ride malfunctioned when part of the a rider’s seat came loose, throwing riders from the ride.

One passenger was life flighted from the scene of the accident while another was taken away wearing a neck brace.

Local media also reported that witnesseses claimed the ride had mechanical issues in the past and that the park knew about these issues before the accident, including that bolts were known to be missing but not repaired.

What This Means for Victims

At least two people were seriously injured when the carnival ride failed, and claims have been made about how well the ride was maintained. The carnival is liable for the injuries caused to the two passengers if:

  1. The ride truly malfunctioned – This means that the ride must have had a structural or mechanical failure that directly lead to the accident; and
  2. The carnival knew about the malfunction – Several unsubstantiated claims have been made that the park was aware of certain defects in the construction of the ride. Witnesses have specifically called out “missing bolts.” If this is the case, then the park would certainly be liable for the injuries caused to its passengers.

It is an unfortunate pattern of behavior for carnivals, fairs and amusement parks to not resolve mechanical issues when they are found. This behavior lead to the death of a child at the Glenwood Caverns amusement park, and the death of a man at the Houston Rodeo in 2011.
