The DOJ says Synergy Marine, Synergy Maritime, and Nair are accused of failing to immediately notify the U.S. Coast Guard about a known hazardous condition, obstructing an agency proceeding, and making false statements. The two corporate defendants are also charged with misdemeanor environmental violations tied to pollutants released into the Patapsco River, including shipping containers, oil, cargo contents, and bridge debris.<\/p>\n<p>Federal prosecutors also allege that Nair provided false statements and documents to the National Transportation Safety Board during its investigation, including statements related to whether he knew the <em>Dali<\/em> was using the flushing pump to supply fuel to two generators.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that an indictment is not a conviction.
