Being in a car accident can be terrifying, but the damages or injuries sustained in the accident can be made even worse by not practicing safe driving or being a safe passenger.
This may not seem like a big deal, but a passenger in a car accident can sustain very serious injuries if their feet are up on the dashboard during an accident. This small decision can completely change a person’s life. An example of this happening was when 26-year-old Bethany Bensen decided to put her feet up on the dashboard before she fell asleep in the car.
Bethany’s life was forever changed because of this decision. Her knees were pushed into her face, breaking one of her eye sockets, her cheekbone and her nose. Her feet were both broken in the crash, and a brain bleed has left her completely in her mother’s care. Perhaps, if Bethany had fallen asleep in the car in a different position, the injuries she sustained may not have been as bad. You can read more about Bethany’s tragic story here.
